Maybe one day!

This mini blog is now called -

Democracy in the USA and England? - maybe one day!

The US Electoral College system for presidential elections is not democratic and should obviously be reformed as soon as possible.

In 2016 Donald Trump lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by 3 million votes and yet unfortunately became president.

It is not possible to maintain that this is democratic.

And I repeat that the similar first past the post system used for parliamentary elections in the UK is simply not democratic and also should be reformed as soon as possible.

WELCOME TO ENGLAND - SELF-DECLARED DEMOCRACY-FREE ZONE

If English people were more mature sensible beings -
there would have been an ECSTATIC CLAMOR to end FPTP
= a NON-DEMOCRATIC and ANTI-DEMOCRATIC voting system
which England created and has suffered for hundreds of years.

But no - that's not the English style - there was NO

"Mandela freed from jail / millions queuing to end the UTTER INIQUITY moment"

- far from it!

ENGLAND IS NOT A DEMOCRACY!

England is not a democracy.

Until it has a DEMOCRACTIC electoral system - ID EST with (PROPORTIONAL)
REPRESENTATION ; it cannot be called a democracy at all.

We are an affront to out own history!

The Electoral Reform Society campaigns for fair elections around the world!

In England reform is a little behind perhaps!.....

England is truly a vitally important birthplace of democracy.
We owe it to that history to keep it a living home of democracy.

Compulsory Voting!

Compulsory voting - with the option of expressed registered abstention at the voting station - is another thing that I think would enhance our ancient democracy!

I have no problem personally with innovations like ON-LINE voting!

The best innovation would be getting rid of FPTP so that democracy can actually begin!

Many other European countries had F.P.T.P. systems.

Many other European countries had F.P.T.P. systems.

Some had Artistocratic Second Chambers too!

They were all fazed out not long after World War Two - if not before!

A war which England helped to win in case you didn't know.

This is not democracy!

The central point that should disgust us all is that in the UK if you don't vote for the winning candidate in your contstituency then - at this point - your vote counts for nothing at all.

This is not the case anywhere else in Europe!

This is not democracy!
